who we are

The idea for GunOps™ was born out of necessity through a partnership between two colleagues, Rocky Edwards, a Forensic Firearm Examiner and Jon Centanni, a Sergeant and Gang Unit Supervisor working at that time at the Santa Ana Police Department in Orange County, California.

Increased workloads caused by rising levels of gun and gang violence was threatening to overwhelm the law enforcement resources available to them.

They knew from their training and experience that every gun used in a crime has the potential to generate information which can be of significant value in helping to solve gun crimes. They knew that some of the most vital information needed was generated from inside (transferred to fired ammunition components) and outside every crime gun and that when fully exploited, this data can be used to generate actionable information of tactical and strategic crime solving value. They also knew all too well, that in order for this data to be of most value it must be collected, analyzed and disseminated to those who need it in a timely manner.

What We Do

For Rocky and Jon, it had become apparent over time – after years of using legacy methods of gun and gang crime case management – that a new and improved approach was necessary in order to make the thorough and systematic investigation of gun related crimes a sustainable priority so that:

  • Detectives can get the timely information they need to advance their investigations and identify armed and violent suspects.
  • Prosecutors can get quality information that rises to the level of admissible evidence in order to convict the guilty.
  • Victims of gun crime can get justice, their families’ closure; and their neighborhoods peace.

The new approach that they envisioned would leverage available human resources with new and more efficient processes sustained through the speed and processing power of computers.

In 2005, Rocky and Jon set out to develop the GunOps™ web application.

In 2009, they established a company to bring GunOps™ to market .

Today that company is Shotcaller Global Inc. a small but agile group of business, law enforcement and technical experts delivering a field proven and robust GunOps™ cloud-based web solution, located in Anaheim, California. Everyone believes that they are obliged to do their best to help law enforcement make the thorough and systematic investigation of gun related crimes a sustainable priority.
